TECoSA Agile Projects provide a fast and lightweight funding mechanism for TECoSA researchers to test new ideas, explore promising use cases, and develop proof-of-concepts. The mechanism is designed for small, time-limited projects that can move quickly from idea to action.
Agile Projects are intended for existing TECoSA researchers who want to rapidly validate an idea, build a demo, or create a basis for a new proposal. Projects are typically funded in the range of 50k–200k SEK for a duration of around 6-12 months.
What is an Agile Project?
An Agile Project is a small TECoSA-funded project with a simple application process and a quick decision route. The goal is to support:
• demo and proof-of-concept development,
• exploration of new use cases,
• proposal preparation for future projects,
• activities that can create visible and tangible TECoSA outcomes.
Who can apply?
Agile Projects are open to:
• TECoSA PIs,
• postdocs,
• PhD students,
• affiliated researchers, including KTH faculty, postdocs, and PhD students.
What can be funded?
Funding may be used for activities such as:
• student interns,
• amanuenses,
• existing staff effort,
• other modest costs directly related to project execution.
Projects are normally expected to have a total budget in the range of 50k–200k SEK, with the possibility of somewhat higher budgets depending on the case.
What do we look for?
Applications are assessed according to the following criteria:
- Relevance for TECoSA
The project should clearly match TECoSA’s themes and contribute to the center’s goals. - Expected impact
We look for potential impact in terms of:
• visibility,
• demonstrations,
• testbed use or development,
• follow-up projects or new initiatives. - Collaboration
Projects should ideally support collaboration, either within KTH, with TECoSA partners, or both. - Feasibility
The proposal should include a clear and realistic plan:
• what will be done,
• who will do it,
• how the budget will be used. - Tangible outcome
Each project should aim for a concrete result, such as:
• a presentation,
• a demo,
• a prototype,
• a follow-up plan,
• a proposal for next-step funding.
How does the process work?
Applications are accepted continuously.
- Researchers submit a short proposal using the template below.
- The TECoSA management team performs a pre-assessment.
- The management team discusses proposals regularly at its biweekly meetings.
- The management team sends a summary and recommendation to the TECoSA Board.
- The Board makes the final decision and responds quickly to proposals.
Please pay attention to possible conflicts of interest during both preparation and assessment.
