TECoSA Seminar – Fog Computing for Cooperative and Autonomous Driving
May 5, 15:00 – 16:00
We aim to bring you a TECoSA Seminar on the first Thursday of each month during term-time. For Spring 2022, the talks will be on-line or hybrid. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to some lively discussions. Members can accept the invitations, non-members can email email@example.com to register.
Our May seminar is with Assistant Professor Yu Xiao, head of Aalto University’s mc² Mobile Cloud Computing Group. The session will be chaired by James Gross, and given in Zoom.
ABSTRACT: The emerging vehicular applications demand for a lot more computing and communication capacity to excel in their compute-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks. Vehicular fog computing is an emerging computing paradigm where computing resources are moved to vehicles or network infrastructure close to vehicles for shortening network latency and reducing ingress traffic to the cloud. In this talk, we will introduce the ongoing work at the mobile cloud computing group of Aalto University (mobilecloud.aalto.fi), covering fog-powered vehicular applications like vision-based mapping and localization, deployment of fog nodes in 5G networks, and data-driven resource and capacity planning for vehicular fog computing.
