5G Security Standardization and Cloud Security Challenges, insights from Ericsson
October 29, 13:00 – 16:00
This workshop provides an opportunity for industry to exchange ideas and academics to understand industrial state of practice and challenges, as well as encouraging more networking and collaboration in the area. All TECoSA members are welcome to attend, and a Teams link will be circulated to all who sign up (via the Outlook invitation or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org).
The following technical topics will be broadly discussed:
– Cloud computing and related technologies
– Security in the cloud
– Confidential computing
13.00 ~ Welcome by Elena Dubrova and György Dán (KTH)
13.05 ~ “5G security standardization in 3GPP”, with Prajwol Kumar Nakarmi (Ericsson)
In this presentation, we will give a sneak peek into how 3GPP (the defacto standardization organization for all Gs) works in general. Then, we will describe the most important security and privacy features that were introduced in 5G, making 5G the most trustworthy mobile network generation ever. The seminar will be followed by a Q&A and discussion.
14.05-14.15 ~ leg stretch
14.15 ~ “Industry Security Challenges in Cloud Deployments”, with János Kövér (Ericsson)
A presentation to highlight problems and identify research opportunities.
– Introduction: Threat model in cloud, ideal wanted position
– Solution with TEEs (Trusted Execution Environment) and short-term challenges
– Potential residual threats e.g. side channel attacks, trust in HW vendors
