SUMMARY:TECoSA Seminar - Radio Positioning in 6G Communication Systems
DESCRIPTION:We aim to bring you a TECoSA Seminar on the first Thursday of each month during term-time.  All are welcome to attend and we look forward to some lively discussions. Members can accept the Outlook invitations\, non-members can email tecosa-admin@kth.se to register.\nOur guest speaker for May is Marina Petrova\, Professor of Wireless Communications with RWTH Aachen\, and a Visiting Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science\, KTH.  The session will be given via Zoom (https://kth-se.zoom.us/j/66857695267). \nABSTACT: Enabling sensing functionality with cellular network infrastructure is envisioned as one of the disruptive features of the sixth-generation (6G) networks. By doing so\, future networks will be able to “see” the physical world through radio imaging and measuring the surrounding environment\, and offer advanced location-aware services and applications. Joint design of communication and sensing in a so called Integrated Communication and Sensing  (ICaS) system requires careful optimization of the available system resources between the two functions to meet their respective target requirements. In this talk\, I will first motivate and present the background of ICaS systems. Thereafter I will highlight our latest research results on a 5G New Radio (NR)-based cooperative multi-monostatic sensing framework for passive target localization. Our fusion-based estimation process can mitigate the effect of multipath and increase the localization accuracy in a bandwidth limited scenario. Finally\, I will conclude the talk by identifying and discussing major open challenges and future directions in designing ICaS systems. \nBIO: Marina Petrova received the Diploma degree in electronics engineering and telecommunications from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University\, Skopje\, North Macedonia and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from RWTH Aachen University\, Aachen\, Germany. She is currently a Professor of Wireless Communications with RWTH Aachen\, and a Visiting Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science\, KTH Royal Institute of Technology\, Stockholm\, Sweden. Her research interests are in system-level modeling\, optimization\, and design of future intelligent wireless systems including\, millimeter-wave and ICAS technologies\, joint radio access and mobile computing\, and spectrum sharing. She has published about 150 articles in journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Petrova is a recipient of the Future Research Leader Award from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and was named a Wallenberg Academy Fellow in 2019. She has served as an Editor for IEEE Wireless Communication Letters and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.

SUMMARY:SCSSS 2024 - Call for Presentations! Deadline: 12 May
DESCRIPTION:The 12th Scandinavian Conference on Systems and Software Safety takes place 19-20 November 2024 in Göteborg. \nSystem and software safety in electronic systems is important in many industries and for societal infrastructure. The systems become more complex\, connected and autonomous and the software continues to grow. This poses many challenges for organizations\, requiring approaches that go beyond established best practices. Many organizations face similar challenges and sharing experiences becomes essential \nThe Scandinavian conference on safety critical systems and software has become a central meeting place for Scandinavian safety experts from industry\, public and academic organizations. The conference is an opportunity to share experiences and make new contacts. There will be a plenary overview day\, and a second day with parallel sessions. The parallel sessions will be in depth workshops and tutorials about different challenges\, techniques\, standards and methods. As usual we anticipate a healthy mixture of participants from different industries and academia. \nThis year we collaborate with Swedish Electromobility Centre at Chalmers\, and special focus will be on safety in electrification of transport. We will have keynotes on safety from Etteplan and Heart Aerospace\, two companies involved in the electromobility transformation. \nIn addition to the usual SCSSS topics (such as safety related to artificial intelligence\, agile development\, architecture\, autonomy\, and quality assurance) we invite proposals for presentations and workshops on safety-related topics for electromobility\, including electric machines\, battery technologies and charging infrastructure. \nCall for presentations ends May 12 2024 \nYou are invited to propose presentations https://forms.gle/jmUmebb6HUPBRnKB8 \nProgram committee \n\nFredrik Asplund\, KTH (Chair)\nGunnar Andersson\, SER\nJonas Fredriksson\, Chalmers\nBarbara Gallina\, MDU\nPer Johannessen\, Volvo Group\nEven-André Karlsson\, Addalot\nJesper Lindell\, Combitech\nLinda Olofsson\, Chalmers\nHåkan Sivencrona\, Volvo Cars\nStaffan Skogby\, Pictor Consulting AB\nMartin Törngren\, KTH\nFredrik Warg\, RISE
